Brainy History

 Theodore W. Gray is a prominent element collector and created a wooden periodic table with compartments for samples of each of the elements. This table won him a Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2002. He writes a regular column for Popular Science entitled "Gray Matter", which in 2009 were published as a collection in a book titled Mad Science: Experiments You Can do at Home—But Probably Shouldn't.
